Maintenance & Repair

Maintenance
A few things to remember…

  1. Keep your instrument in tune, by tuning it every time you practice with a tuner
  2. Before practicing, tighten your bow and rosin it.  After practicing, loosen your bow and wipe the rosin off of your instrument.
  3. Students should never touch the pegs or the bow hair
  4. String instruments are very sensitive to extreme temperature and humidity changes.  NEVER leave an instrument in a car or garage, outside, or on a vent.
  5. There are several things that I can repair:  broken strings, fallen bridges, loose chin rests, etc.  When in doubt let me look at the instrument and if I can’t fix it, I can give some good suggestions for reputable repair shops. Please do not try to fix anything on your own.
